HOLE 1 - 507 - SI: 11 - 494 - SI: 11 - 441 - SI: 7 - PAR: 5/5/5

THE FIRST - A long straight par 5 slightly uphill to start. A fairly wide-open fairway with small trees lining each side.

Aim for the marker post with a long drive of around 300 yards leaving you a good chance of reaching the green in two.

A very undulating fairway leads you down to the green which is fronted by a slight dip which follows on to a bunker either side of the green with a third to the back left. The green itself is relatively flat sloping from back to front. A gentle start to your round.

HOLE 2 - 434 - SI: 7 - 423 - SI: 7 - 395 - SI: 5 - PAR: 4/4/4

THE SECOND - A downhill par 4 awaits you next. Again a tree lined fairway with plenty of space to land your drive. If you can reach the brow of fairway you should gain an advantage of yards as your ball runs down the slope.

The average golfers will face a second shot from a downhill lie leading to a raised green ahead of you.

Bunkers protect both side of the green leaving a fairly narrow entrance to the two tiered putting area. A steep slope at the very front of the green will punish anything short.

HOLE 3 - 427 - SI: 3 - 418 - SI: 3 - 391 - SI: 1 - PAR: 4/4/4

THE THIRD - Playing down the valley and then up a steep incline some tight trees to the left will block out a second shot that could ruin your hole.

To the right hand side you face trees that are slightly more forgiving. As with many of the holes at Hull - it is important to find the fairway if you want to make a score.

A bunker 80 yards short of the green is something to catch you out so be careful - the green itself is guarded by two further sand traps but is relatively flat and welcoming.

HOLE 4 - 168 - SI: 13 - 157 - SI: 13 - 142 - SI: 15 - PAR: 3/3/3

THE FOURTH - A short par 3 is next but still a challenge.

A long narrow green is well protected by three large bunkers. To the right and left and with one directly at the front the correct club selection is essential here.

Anything slightly over-hit will run into the collection of large trees at the back of the green. Leaving a very difficult return.

The green predominately slopes from back to front making this initial par 3 more of a test than imagined.

HOLE 5 - 378 - SI: 9 - 369 - SI: 9 - 351 - SI: 11 - PAR: 4/4/4

HOLE FIVE - A short par 4 over a forgiving undulating fairway with plenty of room for your drive.

A bunker sits to the left waiting for the average drive of most golfers. A slightly poor shot from the tee and you could be in more trouble than needed.

After a good straight drive you will be left with a short iron to the green. Which is flanked front left and two to the right with bunkers. Still a generous target.

Sloping back to front slightly this large green should be found easily but be aware of OOB through the back for the over excitable.

HOLE 6 - 356 - SI: 5 - 347 - SI: 5 - 344 - SI: 3 - PAR: 4/4/4

THE SIXTH - A straight par 4 with out of bounds running down the right for any pushed drive.

A good tee shot down the centre of the very undulating fairway will leave a medium to short iron into the green. Big hitters be careful to avoid the bunker situated down the right of the fairway at around 270 yards.

The green itself provides a large flat end to the hole. A small set of bushes to the right will gather up a pushed second shot and the left hand side of the putting area is home to two bunkers.

HOLE 7 - 303 - SI: 15 - 291 - SI: 15 - 274 - SI: 13 - PAR: 4/4/4

THE SEVENTH - At 303 yards a short par 4. Out of Bounds to the right hand side.

Positional play is key here. It is not always the sensible option to go with your driver. To the left of the fairway is a large dip that is not visible from the tee and with a plantation of trees directly to its left caution is needed.

A small bunker down the right at about 240 yards makes this wide-open looking fairway quite a deception.

A good tee shot will leave a very short iron into a bunker guarded green that is relatively narrow.

HOLE 8 - 140 - SI: 17 - 123 - SI: 17 - 130 - SI: 17 - PAR: 3/3/3

NUMBER 8 - A short par 3 with club selection all-important.

A large bunker short of the green covers the entire entrance, so do not play short. Saying that, anything over hit will land in amongst the group of tall trees directly to the back.

This problematic green is long and narrow sloping towards the back and is surrounded by large bunkers to both sides.

Leave to the right of the green for the secluded 9th.

HOLE 9 - 464 - SI: 1 - 449 - SI: 1 - 436 - SI: 9 - PAR: 4/4/5

THE NINTH - A long dogleg right 449 yards is regarded as the hardest on the course. Very important to drive down left side of centre to allow any chance of reaching the green in two.

The narrow entrance of the fairway means anything pushed or pulled is likely to end up in trees.

Even after a good drive down the fairway you are still faced with a long uphill second shot requiring a long iron or a fairway wood. The OOB comes into play down the right hand side with fairway bunkers to each side. A tough hole with a flat green to finish.

HOLE 10 - 280 - SI: 16 - 276 - SI: 16 - 277 - SI: 14 - PAR: 4/4/4

THE TENTH - A tempting drive where long hitters can go for the green. This option is fraught with danger having OOB down the right and a large pond protecting the full right hand side of the green.   Don’t get yourself mesmerised by the beautiful fountains donated by Hull Golf Club EGGS Section!.

The sensible option is an iron down the left centre of the fairway leaving a short iron to the green - but where is the fun in that???

A long narrow green with a bunker down the left hand side provide a flat putting surface leaving an easy par 4 if played conservatively.

HOLE 11 - 376 - SI: 6 - 352 - SI: 6 - 336 - SI: 2 - PAR: 4/4/4

THE 11TH - An uphill slight dogleg to the left par 4. A number of small trees on either side of the fairway won't prove too much of an obstacle.

After a good drive the second shot will be played from an uphill lie with a short/medium iron onto a two-tiered green.

The green itself is protected by a number of bunkers. The first sits around 30 yards short of the green and two more lay each side of your target. Make sure you reach the correct tier of the green to save a valuable stroke.

HOLE 12 - 509 - SI: 12 - 489 - SI: 12 - 485 - SI: 6 - PAR: 5/5/5

THE 12th HOLE - A long par 5 doglegs to the right awaits you here. A number of trees either side of the fairway but the fairway itself presents a large target to aim for.

A long drive down the left hand side of centre and the second shot to the green will be visible.

The average golfer will be faced with a short uphill pitch for their third shot.

Bunkers are short and left of the green and a path lies to the back of the target that needs to be avoided.

HOLE 13 - 130 - SI: 18 - 118 - SI: 18 - 106 - SI: 18 - PAR: 3/3/3

THE THIRTEENTH - A very short par 3 which should provide a straightforward par.

However care must be taken as five bunkers surround the green and any approach not finding the target can lead to punishment.

Any of the bunkers will leave a difficult second on to the putting surface.

The green is quite a generous size and relatively flat so make the most of this opportunity.

HOLE 14 - 367 - SI: 2 - 355 - SI: 2 - 201 - SI: 10 - PAR: 4/4/3

THE FOURTEENTH - A par 4, which doglegs fairly sharply to the left. Care must be taken with a drive not take out too much of the angle, as the OOB is adjacent to the left of the fairway.

An ideal drive will be down the right hand side with a slight draw. This will leave a fairly short second shot down to the green below.

Your putting surface here is bunkered left and right but provides a fair target to hit. A green that slopes back to front presents attesting putt.

HOLE 15 - 351 - SI: 10 - 319 - SI: 10 - 282 - SI: 16 - PAR: 4/4/4

THE FIFTEENTH - A slightly downhill fairway for the drive, which then slopes uphill for the second shot.

Anything pushed right from the tee will leave you blocked out by the high trees to the green.

Trees and OOB guard the left hand side of the fairway and the ideal line is left of centre.

The green is well protected on all sides by bunkers with a pond to the back for anything over hit to the left. The green is long and narrow but friendly.

HOLE 16 - 178 - SI: 14 - 168 - SI: 14 - 144 - SI: 12 - PAR: 3/3/3

THE SIXTEENTH - A tough par 3 of 168 yards plays to an extremely well guarded green.

An array of bunkers cover all possibilities with two forward sand traps waiting for anything under clubbed.

A narrow target where club selection is all-important if you wish to achieve a par.

The hole feels like it plays longer and could easily spoil your card. A difficult green to hit from a tee shot proves its worth as the hardest par 3 on the course.

HOLE 17 - 439 - SI: 4 - 424 - SI: 4 - 412 - SI: 8 - PAR: 4/4/5

THE SEVENTEENTH HOLE - Another uphill tee shot with trees running down both sides of the fairway.

At 424 yards and with a steep rising fairway this holes plays much longer.

Think well about your club choice, as short play will present you with a waiting bunker ideally situated for this eventuality.

The green is defended by bunkers both sides and although this is a generous putting surface the 17th is a tough par 4.

HOLE 18 - 455 - SI: 8 - 447 - SI: 8 - 399 - SI: 4 - PAR: 4/4/4

THE FINAL HOLE - A fairly straight tee shot will bring you home. The fairway is wide open and the entire hole only has one bunker nestled to the front right of the green.

Steep sides to the green will allow your ball to run away if your approach is off line.

This would leave an unnecessarily difficult chip so take care. The final green is relatively flat and simple to play as long as you find a good positional second shot.
